Here's something I'm really proud of.
40+ pose sketches done from my imagination rather than from reference.

I don't want people to use this sheet like the other one I posted a few years ago. The purpose of this exercise was to spend the time and effort to come up with the poses and I'd encourage all of you to do the same for yourself! :D

If there are any consistent issues with the poses shown here I'd really like to hear about them! Are they too stiff? Are they same-y? Things like that.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between gesture line and line of action? :)

Oh gosh that's a pretty good question! For me the gesture line would be the line that you would draw through a figure to see what they're acting upon? Whereas the line of action would be where the figure appears to be headed or intends to go? Like a falling character would have a line of action towards the ground but they may be reaching up for a ledge which would be the gesture line?
I'm not quite sure though, sorry!

i like how you've got shapes to surround the general pose, i never really thought of using that method. it's pretty cool-looking.

Thanks! I found it really encourages a flow and breaks up a bit of the stiffness that normally infects my drawings :3

Ahaha, thank you, it helps make it more interesting when you're spending hours looking back to make sure you're not repeating poses and it helps each stand out in your mind. :D

Hee, I like how you made the poses all fun colored. :P

Critique time~ You've gotten much better with your line confidence! And I wouldn't say your poses are stiff, just that they need a little more definition in the human form and less emphasis on the outline. Otherwise the poses look very fluid and natural. A great exercise, I ought to motivate myself and do these sorts of exercises haha

So I should focus more on the bones and musculature than on the outlines?
Thanks for taking the time to critique UuU <3

That would certainly help quite a bit, but in this case maybe just render key muscle shapes and bone landmarks that particularly would be emphasized in each pose (ex. if the guy is doing a push up, I would put a little more time on drawing the arm and back muscles).
